Band 7 Radiographers - Wiltshire

The Breast Centre plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive breast imaging services, supporting both symptomatic and screening pathways. The department is supported by a skilled multidisciplinary team dedicated to delivering patient-centred care, early diagnosis, and excellent clinical outcomes.

Role Description

This is a Locum Mammographer (Band 7) role based on-site within the Breast Centre at an NHS Trust in Wiltshire.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a high-quality breast imaging service, performing mammography examinations in accordance with NHS Breast Screening Programme standards and departmental protocols. The role will involve working as part of a multidisciplinary team to support the diagnosis and management of breast conditions, ensuring an outstanding patient experience throughout their care pathway.

Start Date: ASAP
Duration: Initially for 1 month, likely to extend
Hours: Full-time (37.5 hours per week) or part-time (full days considered)
Working Pattern: Principally 8:30am to 5:30pm, with the expectation to cover some limited evening and weekend sessions as required by the service.

Daily responsibilities will include performing high-quality mammographic examinations, ensuring compliance with radiation safety regulations and NHS Breast Screening Programme guidelines, maintaining accurate patient records, and providing compassionate care to patients attending the Breast Centre.

The Mammographer will work closely with radiologists, breast clinicians, advanced practitioners, nursing teams, and administrative staff to support efficient service delivery and positive patient outcomes. Adherence to clinical governance frameworks, quality assurance standards, and departmental policies will form an important part of the role.

Experience working within an NHS Breast Screening Programme environment would be highly advantageous.

Qualifications

  • Hold current HCPC registration as a Radiographer.

  • Right to work in the UK is essential

  • Possess a recognised Postgraduate Certificate in Mammography or equivalent qualification.

  • Have an enhanced DBS on the update service or be willing to apply for one.

  • Demonstrated experience working as a Mammographer within an NHS or similar healthcare setting.

  • Strong knowledge of breast imaging techniques, quality assurance procedures, and patient care standards.

  • Experience working within the NHS Breast Screening Programme is highly desirable.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide reassurance and support to patients attending breast imaging appointments.

  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.

  • Strong organisational, documentation, and time-management skills.

  • Knowledge of radiation protection legislation, infection prevention protocols, and clinical governance requirements.

  • Experience using NHS Radiology Information Systems (RIS), PACS, and electronic patient record systems is desirable.
